Before departure

Ibiza has two personalities. The one the airport sells — clubs, foam parties, Sunday lunches that end at midnight — and the one the locals live: organic vineyards in the north, almond villages in the centre, an entire west coast still as wild as it was in 1965.

A week at sea gives you both, in the order you want them. Most guests ask for the wild part first and the loud part last; we have stopped trying to talk them out of it.

Formentera, across the strait, is Ibiza with the volume turned off. The water is the lightest blue in the Mediterranean. The famous beaches — Illetes, Espalmador's sand strait, Cala Saona — are postcard places that, by accident or design, never became fully ruined.

The route is built around these two registers: Ibiza's nights and Formentera's days, with the monolith of Es Vedrà as the visual anchor of the week.
